A greenhouse laborer for flower production, planting, cultivates, and harvests flowers, performing physical tasks like weeding, watering, pruning, and general greenhouse cleaning in a fast-paced environment
Job Duties and Tasks
- Prepare soil, mix growing media, and plant seeds, roots, or cuttings.
- Transplant seedlings and cuttings, pot, and re-pot plants.
- Water and tend to crops using automated or manual irrigation systems.
- Prune plants, space plants or debudding crops by hand.
- Monitor plants and report signs of weeds, insects, diseases, or damage.
- Sweep, tidy, and clean work areas, tools, and greenhouse structures
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Ability to perform repetitive lifting, bending and carrying throughout the workday
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- No formal degree, certificate, or diploma is required.
- Physically fit and able to work in a warm greenhouse environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Experience:
- Entry- level position train on the job, though prior agricultural experience is an asset.
Schedule:
· Full-time hours 40-50 hours a week
· Seasonal employment
