This position will report to the Executive Vice President GIP Materials Engineering and will interface with executive management, regional and terminal managers, technical staff as well as staff terminals.
Key Responsibilities include :
- Coordinate and interact directly with terminal service providers, equipment suppliers, design and engineering service contractors, electrical, mechanical and construction contractors as well as provincial and local agencies (as required for terminal permits and expansions), etc.
- Develop and execute projects to support asphalt cement and emulsion terminals and manufacturing plants from inception to completion
- Coordinate project approvals, engineering design, procurement, construction, budgeting and assists with staff in commissioning and facility or process startup.
- Develop the facilities standards for materials and design that best supports the Operations team
- Support operations, terminals and production locations, to assist in rolling out new process technologies
- Evaluate assets and processes to help ensure costs are minimized and efficiency targets are optimized.
- Review processes for best safety practices, environmental stewardship, maximum profitability, energy efficiency and operational effectiveness.
- Work closely with EH&S and Operations to develop new life critical and process safety standards.
- Provide field and project support to operations and production facilities as needed.
- Be a proactive Safety, Environmental and Incident Investigation support representative. Share experiences and solutions to ensure continued safety and environmentally-friendly operations for our employees, contractors and customers.
- Take a leadership role to ensure financial responsibility of processes and budget development.
Position Requirements :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering with 2+ years of experience in petroleum terminal operations and construction field is preferred. Field experience will be considered in partial lieu of a degree.
- Registered Professional Engineer or eligible to become Registered at Professional Engineer is a plus.
- Experience in asphalt or petroleum terminal operations, design, construction, and maintenance.
- Knowledge in API standards with respect to storage tanks and piping is a plus
- Background in asphalt storage, blending and manufacturing operations and asset maintenance including turnarounds, preventive maintenance, rack automation, steam and hot oil process heating systems, operations process training, process safety management, environmental and petroleum terminal operations management is a plus
- Operational knowledge of Auto CAD and Preventive Maintenance Systems is an asset.
- Must posses a drivers license and have a good driving record
