Swick Mining Services is hiring experienced Underground Diamond Drillers for our Canadian operations. Enjoy an even-time 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off Fly-In/Fly-Out (FIFO) rotation, competitive pay, paid travel, employer-paid benefits, and performance bonuses while building your career with a global leader in underground drilling.
As an Underground Diamond Driller, you will lead underground drilling operations while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. You will supervise your crew, mentor trainee drillers, and ensure drilling activities are completed efficiently while meeting client expectations.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and supervise underground drilling crews.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
- Conduct pre-start inspections of equipment and work areas.
- Ensure all crew members have the required PPE and are fit for work.
- Read and accurately interpret drill plans.
- Operate and maintain underground diamond drilling equipment.
- Conduct drill surveys at the start of each hole and every 30 metres thereafter (or as required by the client).
- Monitor gas levels and follow all site safety procedures.
- Mix drilling muds and prepare drilling equipment.
- Accurately record hole depths, survey information, and drilling data.
- Complete daily drilling reports and shift documentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate professionally with clients and site personnel.
- Train, mentor, and support helper and trainee drillers.
Qualifications Required:
- Minimum 12 months of underground diamond drilling experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of underground drill rigs
- Ability to read and interpret drill plans
- Current Driver's Licence
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Current Police Clearance (or ability to obtain one)
- Strong understanding of Occupational Health and Safety practices
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Physically fit and able to work in an underground mining environment
