Purpose:
The Bergeron Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology (BEST) Program, in the Lassonde School of Engineering, supports entrepreneurial programs and initiatives, internally and externally, with a vision to educate and inspire students to become changemakers through development of critical skills and knowledge in entrepreneurial experiences and education. The BEST Program provides the environment, culture, and resources to enrich students' learning experiences, thereby, empowering contributions to resolving societal challenges, and to make significant impacts in local communities and beyond. The Administrative Assistant role provides operational and administrative support and quality standards to the programs, courses, events, and initiatives for the BEST Program.The role supports the vision, purpose, values and strategic direction of the Lassonde School of Engineering and York University, and contributes to a positive, supportive student-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement, while embracing diversity and fostering inclusion.
Education:
College Diploma in Business Administration, Education, Communications, Office Administration or other related programs, or an equivalent of two years' recent experience (defined as within the last three years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below.
Experience:
Two (2) years of recent experience working with student groups, and community organizations preferably in a university setting. Experience must include planning, coordinating, and implementing events, designing, and creating promotional materials, and maintaining databases. In addition, experience with developing and maintaining relationships with students, alumni, internal and external partners is required. Also required is experience reconciling and tracking expenditures. Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of web design tools (i.e., WordPress) is desired. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience supporting experiential education initiatives.
