Wood Buffalo Athletic Academy is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our instructional team in the role of Multisport and Math Teacher.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education
- Previous experience teaching Physical Education, with an understanding of skill development, training principles, and student wellness
- Experience with or readiness to support the implementation and ongoing development of a multisport academy model within a school setting
- Experience teaching in a Division II and/or Division III setting, with knowledge of Mathematics and Physical Education programs of study
- Demonstrated understanding of student-athletes, including the ability to support students who are highly engaged in athletics while maintaining strong academic expectations and balance
- An appreciation for sport culture, including the demands of training, competition schedules, and the social-emotional needs of athletically driven students
- Ability to build meaningful relationships with students who identify strongly with athletics, using sport as a vehicle to enhance engagement, motivation, and academic success
- Knowledge and familiarity with Assessment for Learning, Literacy, and Differentiated Instruction practices
- Effective organizational and classroom management skills are imperative, particularly in supporting students balancing academic and athletic commitments
- Ability to integrate and use technology in both regular and virtual classroom environments
- Ability to create, implement, and monitor goals for Individual Program Plans (IPPs) to support diverse learners
- A strong ability to build relationships with students, staff, parents, and members of the broader athletic community
- Strong technology skills are required, with knowledge of Google Platform applications and PowerSchool considered an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a small, highly connected team, with a willingness to be flexible, adaptable, and contribute beyond assigned roles
- A team-first mindset, with a commitment to supporting colleagues, sharing responsibilities, and contributing to a positive and cohesive school culture
- Knowledge of the Collaborative Response Model is an asset
