Position Overview
A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior or Intermediate Regulatory Specialist / Aquatic Biologist to join its expanding team in British Columbia. This hybrid role is ideal for an experienced environmental professional with a strong background in aquatic biology, regulatory permitting, and project management. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary environmental projects, support infrastructure and land development initiatives, and collaborate with public and private sector clients across the province.
The role involves leading multidisciplinary projects with both public and private sector clients, focused largely in the Lower Mainland and throughout BC.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental permitting and regulatory approval processes for development projects.
- Manage multidisciplinary environmental assessments, including aquatic habitat, wetlands, wildlife, vegetation, and water quality.
- Prepare technical reports, proposals, work plans, and cost estimates.
- Oversee project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
- Liaise with regulatory agencies, clients, and project stakeholders.
- Mentor junior staff and support field programs and environmental monitoring.
- Contribute to business development through proposal writing and client relationship management.
Qualifications
- Degree in Aquatic Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Registered Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.) designation or eligibility.
- Minimum 5–10 years of experience in environmental consulting, regulatory permitting, or aquatic biology.
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal environmental legislation and regulatory approval processes.
- Demonstrated project management, technical writing, and stakeholder communication skills.
- Experience with GIS, environmental monitoring, fisheries regulations, or related technical disciplines is considered an asset.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to conduct fieldwork as required.
Pay: $47,427.92-$134,049.17 per year

- Surrey, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- urban watershed management and low impact design : 3 years (required)
- water quality sampling, analysis in aquatic environments: 3 years (required)
- hydrometric monitoring and modeling : 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Certification in electro-fishing (required)
