GARDHOUSE Financial Counsel is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Professional to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in Canadian tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, government remittances, and client accounting support. The successful candidate will work directly with individuals, businesses, trusts, and estates to help prepare accurate tax filings, maintain financial records, respond to CRA matters, and support clients with practical accounting and tax-related questions.
Experience with QuickBooks and Profile tax software would be considered a strong asset.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of tax, bookkeeping, and client accounting duties, including:
- Preparing and reviewing bookkeeping records using manual and computerized accounting systems.
- Completing bank and account reconciliations, year-end adjusting entries, and financial reporting.
- Preparing GST/HST returns, payroll remittances, T4 and T5 slips, and other government filings.
- Preparing Canadian personal tax returns, including self-employment and rental income schedules.
- Assisting with corporate tax returns, trust returns, estate returns, and terminal personal tax returns.
- Supporting clients with bookkeeping, payroll, tax, and CRA-related questions.
- Assisting with CRA reviews, audits, notices, correspondence, and documentation requests.
- Preparing corporate tax elections, resolutions, and related supporting documentation.
- Communicating with clients to collect information, explain requirements, and follow up on outstanding items.
- Maintaining accurate client records and ensuring confidentiality of financial information.
- Monitoring filing deadlines and ensuring work is completed accurately and on time.
- Working collaboratively with the team to improve internal processes and client service.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have a combination of relevant education, training, and practical experience in tax, bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience preparing Canadian personal and/or business tax returns.
- Experience with bookkeeping, general ledgers, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Knowledge of GST/HST filings, payroll remittances, T4/T5 preparation, and government reporting requirements.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and data entry.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work professionally and confidently with clients.
- A high standard of ethics, discretion, and confidentiality.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and assist with the continued development of the department.
Experience with QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, Profile tax software, corporate tax, estate tax, or trust tax would be considered an asset.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
