We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clincial Practice Leader to join our Vascular Access Program. The Clinical Practice Leader (CPL) for the Vascular Access Program will demonstrate expert skill and an advanced level of clinical knowledge to support excellence in infusion therapy, correctness of infusion prescription, appropriate vascular access device selection, management and care of central venous access devices (CVADs) as well as peripheral access and management. Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice this role will provide support to the Clinical Programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
Consultation with the Physicians, Program Directors, Manager , CPL’s and staff regarding program needs
The development, evaluation, and maintenance of a Vascular Access Program and quality practices
Developing educational programs to support these needs
Conducting orientation and education related to Central Venous Access Devices and Peripheral Intravenous access and maintenance
Delivery of quality improvement initiatives related to practice excellence practices in assessment and management of CVADs and peripheral venous insertions
Development and review of policies and procedures related to CVADs and peripheral insertions
Leading and/or participating in research and applicable hospital committees
Contributing to Humber River’s Quality Improvement Plan
Current certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
Completion of a Masters of Nursing program
Current certification with the CVAA (The Canadian Vascular Access Association)
Minimum three (3) years direct clinical practice in central venous access therapy
Demonstrated knowledge of nursing research and continuous quality improvement methodology
Program planning and evaluation methodology skills, with demonstrated abilities in teaching and knowledge translation
Knowledge of data management programs
Membership in the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) required
Membership with The Canadian Association of Vascular Access
Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support required
Excellent verbal, written and computer skills
Ability to be self-directed in fast paced environment
Highly developed customer service orientation.
