We are assembling a small, capable crew for a remote restoration project at the iconic Langara Lighthouse—a site few people ever reach, and even fewer have the opportunity to work on.
This is a task-oriented, hands-on project involving rehabilitation and refinishing of a historic lighthouse tower, accessible only by helicopter, in one of the most striking coastal environments in Canada, on Langara Island on the north tip of Haida Gwaii.
The Work
Crew members will be involved in a focused scope that includes:
- Structural and finish carpentry
- Framing and minor reconstruction
- Scaffolding erection and modification
- Surface preparation and paint removal
- Protective coatings and finish work
- General skilled construction tasks typical of heritage restoration
This is practical, engaged work. Everyone contributes. Adaptability and pride in workmanship matter.
The Setting
- Fully remote location
- Helicopter and boat access only
- Crew quarters on site (not a camp setup)
- Internet access available
- A setting where focus, teamwork, and craft take priority
It’s a rare environment that naturally filters for people who take their work seriously.
The Commitment (Important)
This role requires a minimum commitment of a rotation of 2-3 weeks on site.
Longer stays may be possible.
This project is best suited to individuals who are comfortable settling in, focusing on the work, and seeing a defined scope through to completion.
