JOB SUMMARY
Hestia is looking for a Site Superintendent who is responsible for leading and managing all site activities. This will include daily coordination, supervision of resources and materials, as well as ensuring compliance of all safety regulations, for the life cycle of the project. This individual will be highly knowledgeable at promoting an engaged and accountable workforce. You will apply sound knowledge of construction methods and work cooperatively with trade partners to ensure work is completed on time, to scope and on budget. This role will report to the Manger of Construction and will work closely with our Project Manager to collaborate as a team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organize construction activities and ensure the completion of the work by the workforce and subcontractors.
- Responsible and accountable for ensuring the work performed is in accordance with the most recent project plans and specifications.
- Responsible and accountable for site reporting requirements – safety documentation, equipment tracking, look-a-heads, daily log, etc.
- Manage/Coordinate the delivery to site of all materials and equipment in a timely manner and as required by the project schedule.
- Understand the scope of work and ensure it is well communicated to all trades.
- Report and keep current all daily log activities on site in Procore.
- Ensure the as-built drawings are marked.
- Check and prepare material orders and items related to the work they supervise.
- Maintain site files on supplies, equipment, and services.
- Supervise inspections performed by field engineers, AHJ, subcontractors, and any external participant.
- Identify and eliminate risks and identify and document the hazards.
- Be responsible for collecting & approving timesheets daily.
- Attend and participate actively in all the project meetings.
- Coach and mentor foremen in their professional development.
- Effectively negotiate with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Observe that Work Safe Practices are being followed daily.
- Monitor, detect and respond to unsafe or hazardous conditions of equipment, work environment for safety, service requirements and hazards.
- Monitor and guide compliance with building and safety regulations.
- Ensure tools, equipment and materials are readily available and kept secure.
- Always ensure quality construction standards.
- Keep current in building best practices and knowledge of industry changes.
- Other duties as required by the Vice President Construction.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Proven 5 to 10 years of experience in large construction projects
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, methods and materials
- Excellent organizational, communication, leadership and time-management skills
- Strong understanding of safety practices or certification in first aid
- Valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle
- Experience with using MS Office applications
- Experience with Procore is an asset
- Any certification from the ACSA is an asset
