2018-19 Expression of Interest - Specialty Teaching Contracts - French Immersion

The Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) is the largest school board in Atlantic Canada with over 9,000 full-time, part-time and casual employees. Serving 49,000 students in 134 schools, our geographic region spans a 350 km radius.

HRCE is inviting qualified French Teachers to express their interest in being considered for a 100% specialty contract for the 2018-19 school year by applying to this posting. Specific job postings are available at

Teachers who meet the following criteria may be eligible for a contract:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education
Satisfactory French Proficiency Interview (FPI) through the HRSB’s (see details below);
French Second Language Methods;
Eligible for a Nova Scotia Teacher’s Certificate through the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.

French Proficiency Interview (FPI):
Candidates for French Immersion and Core French positions must complete a French Proficiency Interview with the HRSB French Program Consultants who will assess the candidate's competency in French (oral and written). The assessment process is approximately 60-75 minutes in duration and can be completed remotely. Candidates will be assessed on both oral and written language skills.
