Cambridge Health Inc has immediate openings for Direct Community Support Worker to perform shift work in Elmwood area. Week days, Weekends, and Evenings.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Client supervision, household cleaning/maintenance, laundry and meal planning/preparation.
· Follow behaviour plans directed by the managers.
· Provide clients with respectful, supportive and caring environment.
· Organizes work according to client needs and assigned tasks.
· Provides personal care as directed by the supervisor, including assisting the client in walking, climbing or descending stairs, getting into and out of bed, eating, dressing and other matters of personal hygiene such as showering or brief changes.
· Maintains accountability by working with program guidelines and observing and reporting changes in client conditions to the manager.
· Ensure proper documentation of each client's progress and maintain client confidentiality.
· Maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Requires experience in direct client support/supervision, meal preparation, personal care, housekeeping and laundry services.
· Demonstrated knowledge, awareness and sensitivity to diverse cultures.
· Education and/or experience working with people with mental health issues, anxiety, depression and behavioural/emotional challenges.
· Ability to travel between assignments in the community area to several private homes of clients within Winnipeg and surrounding areas and to adapt to changes in scheduling on short notice required.
· First Aid/C.P.R. and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training.
· Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills required. Recent experience working with the elderly and/or physically disabled is an asset.
· Ability to work independently in a community setting and function as a team member.
Physical Requirements:
· May be exposed to physical and emotional stress.
· Must be physically fit
· Capable of transferring using the lift, pivot transfer with proper technique.
· May be required to work in various community locations.
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $17.00-$20.00 per hour
