Position Qualifications and Requirements - Metrology & Equipment Mastery minimum 3 years experience:
Hands-on calibration experience with Force transducers, Force gauges, Torque transducers, torque Wrenches, Hardness Testers Rockwell, Brinell, Micro & Macro Hardness Testers Vickers & Knoop. Displacement Speed measuring systems, Precision Weighing Scales and Optical systems (precision microscopes, LVDTs and durometers).
Standards & Compliance: Proven adherence to ISO/IEC 17025:2017 frameworks, alongside ASTM and ISO standards governing force, torque and materials hardness testing.
Analytical & Mathematical Precision: Strong mathematical foundation with practical experience calculating and documenting Measurement Uncertainty and generating traceable certificates of calibration.
Diagnostics & Hardware Skills: Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex mechanical and electrical schematics, backed by advanced Electronics components, electrical soldering skills and Hans-on mechanical troubleshooting. Practical experience with multi channel Data Acquisition Systems, Strain Gauge based Instruments.
Value-Add / Desirable Skills: Familiarity with automated calibration software, preventative maintenance scheduling asset management, and root-cause failure analysis. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite fluency in English is required. Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
Bonus Skill (Preferred): Proven hands-on experience with the repair or electrical assembly of metallurgical sample preparation equipment such as cutters, grinders, polishers and mounting presses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform accredited calibrations, preventive maintenance, alignment and emergency repairs on client-site measuring instruments and materials testing machinery.
- Interpret electrical/mechanical blueprints and execute precision component-level fixes, mechanical alignments, or soldering work.
- Compute measurement uncertainty parameters and complete rigorous documentation compliant with ISO/IEC 17025 quality guidelines.
- Balance a schedule consisting of 80% field travel (including out-of province weekly trips and 20% laboratory testing and administration.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, explaining technical findings clearly to clients in various industrial environments.
- Must be Canadian Sitizen or Permanent Resident.
- Physically fit capable of lifting 50 lbs.
- Police Background Check.
- Must have a valid G driver’s license with a clean driving history in the recent 3+ years.
- Must be eligable under Controlled Goods Act.
- Eligable under Governement Candada Contract Security Program. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education: Engineering Background (Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics). A Bachelor's Degree is strongly preferred, or an equivalent combination of formal technical education and hands-on industrial experience.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of direct work experience in a calibration, instrumentation, or technical field-service environment.
- 3+ years of specific hands-on experience working with tensile testing machines (electromechanical and hydraulic)
- Extensive Background servicing and verifying various hardness testers, used across the manufacturing and industrial sectors.
COMPENSATION, BENEFITS & PERKS:
- Competitive Base Salary - $ 65,000.00 to $ 67,200.00
