Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a graduate of a recognized Recreational Program to join the Intermediate Care Unit team at Shorncliffe Village Care Home as a Program Coordinator/Driver. Apply today to join our team!

As a Program Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

Work with multidisciplinary team members and the client’s family and use creativity to plan, develop and implement activity programs based on assessed needs and cognitive abilities of clients.
Set up a calendar of events/activities and demonstrate and teach the techniques of related activities.
Communicate with external agencies for information and program resources.
Transport clients to and from events/activities, accompany clients on outings, coordinate transportation and assist clients with practicing daily living skills.
Report relevant observations of client progress and behaviours to Resident Care Coordinator/delegate and/or other healthcare staff.
Provide direction to volunteers, organize equipment and supplies for activities, maintain an established inventory of supplies and ensure a safe work environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience

Graduation from a recognized recreational program plus one (1) year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Valid Class 4 Driver’s License (unrestricted).

Knowledge & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to teach.
Ability to supervise.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
