Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in delivering high-quality food service. Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation and meal assembly according to established recipes and standards
- Support cooking activities under supervision, ensuring timely and efficient service
- Handle food safely, adhering to proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Serve food to customers or staff in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work areas throughout shifts
- Assist with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock needs
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe working environment for all staff
Skills
- Experience in food preparation, or cooking is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential
- Knowledge of African food is must.
- Knowledge of food handling and safety practices within the food industry
- Ability to perform meal preparation efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Strong understanding of food service operations and customer service principles
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to follow instructions accurately
- Good organizational skills to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Prior restaurant or kitchen experience is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided for suitable candidates
