Coordinator.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, this individual will ensure that field operations are conducted
in a safe and efficient manner, working closely with employees, contractors, consultants, and other
stakeholders to provide safety encouragement, guidance, and support.
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Work along side construction staff and promote a positive safety culture and provide safety
leadership.
- Conduct regular site safety inspections and hazard assessments.
- Maintain records of inventory and inspection schedules for equipment
- Perform site inspections, job observations, and safety audits as required, ensuring our
company and its trades are in compliance with safety regulations.
- Follow up with construction staff and construction trades that action items are completed
from audits or inspections.
- Participate in incident investigations.
- Take leadership role in Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee
- Assist with site emergency response planning.
- Develop safe work practices and safety job procedures depending on the job site and the
situation.
- Ability to travel around HRM, Bedford and Dartmouth and visit current job sites and perform
weekly inspections.
- Provide new worker/subcontractor site orientations for larger job sites and coordinate and
organize trade worker certificates and making sure they are valid.
- Review and provide updates or changes to existing safety manual, job startup processes
protocols, and procedures.
- Attend company-wide JOHS Committee meetings.
