Primary level Math & English Tutor (Ontario Curriculum)
We are seeking a warm, patient, and engaging tutor to support a Grade 1 student in building strong foundations in math and literacy. We are looking for someone familiar with the Ontario curriculum who uses a positive, student-centered approach to build confidence and foster a love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one tutoring in Grade 1 math and English
- Support conceptual number sense, problem solving, and foundational numeracy skills
- Support phonemic awareness, phonics, reading fluency, and early writing
- Use engaging, age-appropriate strategies tailored to the student’s needs
- Foster confidence through positive reinforcement and growth mindset practices
- Communicate progress with parents as needed
Qualifications
- Experience tutoring or teaching primary students
- Familiarity with the Ontario Ministry of Education Grade 1 curriculum
- Strong understanding of conceptual number sense and phonics/phonemic awareness
- Patient, encouraging, and engaging teaching style
