Our service team supports a growing portfolio of commercial, institutional, and multi-family buildings throughout British Columbia. We are looking for a skilled HVAC/R Service Technician who enjoys hands-on field work, troubleshooting mechanical systems, and delivering excellent customer service.
The Opportunity
This is a field-based service role focused on diagnosing, maintaining, repairing, and commissioning commercial HVAC/R and mechanical systems.
You will work closely with Riada's Service Manager and technical teams while supporting contractors, building operators, and owners throughout BC.
This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and building strong relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
Service, Maintenance & Repairs• Perform preventative maintenance on commercial HVAC/R and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment in the field.
- Diagnose refrigeration, heating, hydronic, and domestic hot water system issues.
- Respond to service calls and provide timely solutions.
- Complete detailed service reports and document work performed.
- Identify worn or failing components and recommend corrective actions.
Equipment Start-Up & Commissioning• Assist with equipment start-ups and commissioning activities.
- Verify equipment operation and performance.
- Support contractors and owners during project turnover.
Customer Service• Communicate professionally with contractors, building operators, and owners.
- Provide clear explanations of issues, repairs, and recommendations.
- Maintain Riada's reputation for technical expertise and responsive service.
Safety & Administration• Follow all company and site safety requirements.
- Maintain service records, reports, and documentation.
- Coordinate parts and materials with Riada's internal team when required.
Qualifications
Required• Red Seal HVAC/R Technician certification OR
- Valid Refrigerant Handling / ODP Certificate with commercial HVAC/R service experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience servicing commercial HVAC/R equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience working with refrigeration systems, heat pumps, hydronic systems, or commercial HVAC equipment.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to work independently in the field.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable using mobile devices, email, and basic Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred• Red Seal Plumber certification.
- Experience servicing:
- • Heat pumps
- Commercial water heaters
- Hydronic systems
- Pumps and booster systems
- Air handling equipment
- Additional certifications in Gas Fitting, Electrical, or BPVR.
- Experience working with commercial, institutional, healthcare, or multi-family buildings.
- Familiarity with equipment from manufacturers such as:
- • PVI - Domestic Water Systems
- Lync - Heat Pump Systems
- Grundfos - Pumping & Hydronics
- Tempeff - Are Handling Systems
- Or other similar manufacturers are a bonus
