Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the repairs and maintenance of all commercial trucks and truck-tractors.
- Assign, monitor, and check the work of mechanics and apprentices.
- Lead maintenance staff to ensure timely and effective repairs, servicing, and preventive maintenance.
- Responsible for coaching and counseling on poor performance and conducting performance reviews annually.
- Oversee parts ordering and inventory management.
- Monitor work orders and discuss work to be performed with the Service Manager.
- Use hand tools and various specialized diagnostic equipment to diagnose, isolate and repair faults, if required.
- Oversee scheduled maintenance service.
- Communicate with the Service Manager on work performed general trucks condition and future work required.
- Track KPI like repair costs.
- Interface with operations, co-workers and HR.
- Read and interpret owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
- 310T Licensed mechanic.
- 5+ years of experience with procedures for the repair and maintenance of a wide range of trucks and truck equipment.
- 3+ years of experience in a lead role.
- Must have experience as a truck mechanic.
- Must be comfortable performing repairs when required and checking the mechanics work for quality assurance.
- Experience managing a shop with Company owned fleet would be an asset.
- Extensive Health and Safety guidelines and regulations an asset.
- Applicant is required to provide their own tools.
