Eli Power Temple Ministries is a community-focused organization committed to serving individuals, families, seniors, and vulnerable members of our community. Through our community outreach initiatives, we aim to provide practical support, companionship, encouragement, and meaningful connections.
We are currently seeking compassionate and dependable volunteers to join our growing community outreach and senior support program in Ottawa.
Position Overview
Volunteers will support our Senior Non-Medical Home Support Program and community outreach activities. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about helping seniors, serving the community, and gaining meaningful volunteer experience.
Responsibilities
* Provide friendly companionship and social interaction for seniors
* Assist with non-medical household support and light daily tasks
* Accompany seniors on walks or community activities when appropriate
* Help seniors access community resources and services
* Participate in community outreach and engagement activities
* Assist with organizing senior-focused programs and events
* Help identify and communicate seniors’ non-medical support needs to program coordinators
* Promote dignity, respect, independence, and inclusion
* Maintain appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries
* Attend volunteer orientations and training sessions
What We Are Looking For
We welcome volunteers who are:
* Compassionate, patient, respectful, and dependable
* Comfortable interacting with seniors and diverse members of the community
* Good communicators and active listeners
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Interested in community service and helping vulnerable individuals
* Previous experience in senior care, PSW work, social services, community outreach, or healthcare is an asset but not required
