Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Keeper to maintain and enhance the appearance and safety of our outdoor spaces. This role involves performing landscape maintenance, gardening, and general upkeep to ensure the grounds are well-kept, safe, and visually appealing. The ideal candidate will have a passion for horticulture and outdoor maintenance, with experience using various tools and equipment. Also to include some janitorial duties.
Duties
- Mow lawns, trim shrubs, and prune trees to maintain landscape aesthetics
- Use hand tools and power tools for planting, trimming, and other maintenance tasks
- Perform regular landscape maintenance including fertilizing, mulching, and weed control
- Maintain pathways, benches, fences, and other outdoor structures
- Assist with seasonal planting and gardening activities
- Conduct routine inspections to identify and address safety hazards or maintenance needs
- Ensure all grounds are clean, safe, and well-organized at all times
Requirements
- Experience with gardening, or landscape maintenance preferred
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruners, and hoes
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of grounds upkeep
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions including lifting heavy objects and standing for extended periods
- Prior experience in landscaping or groundskeeping is a plus
- Ability to upkeep shower/washroom facilities periodically
- Ability to follow safety procedures diligently
