Medium size law firm located in North York is looking for an Accident Benefits Paralegal to manage and handle large number of files through the accident benefits process. The ideal individual should have a minimum of 4 years of accident benefits experience; and be a highly motivated self-starter with strong communication skills.

Position offers salary, plus commission.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Handle up to 100 accident benefits files
  • Handling work proactively on file from intake to resolution
  • Prepare letters to clients, defence counsel, insurance companies, medical offices
  • Complete various OCF forms as per the Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule
  • Communicate with insurance adjusters
  • Effectively track denials, deadlines and timelines
  • Complete forms and prepare summaries, applications and settlement proposals
  • Negotiate settlements

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4+ years of personal injury experience
  • Very good knowledge of SABS
  • Experience handling files from beginning to end
  • Experienced with settling files
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to multitask and maintain high attention to detail
  • Settlement negotiation
