Job Title: Shift Supervisor – Finishing
(Paint, Pack, Anodizing, Waste Treatment, Fabrication)

Job Objective:
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Finishing Supervisor will be responsible for production activities in APEL’s finishing department for a given shift. APEL’s finishing department includes a state-of-the-art automated anodizing line, a modern electrostatic paint line and fabrication facilities for cutting and punching. APEL runs 24-hour operations operating 7 days per week; as such shift rotation is a requirement for this position. The Finishing Supervisor will have approximately 16-20 direct reports and be an active participant in APEL’s Leadership Group.
In addition to the production responsibilities, the Shift Supervisor’s role will involve extensive liaison with all areas of the company. Activities include but are not limited to managing resources and schedules in the Finishing Department. Key deliverables involve ensuring the finishing department meets or exceeds safety, production, cost and quality objectives.
General duties are to:
· Delegate, manage and coordinate production teams to effectively utilize the people, equipment and materials required to meet production schedules.
· Anticipate and identify bottlenecks and take corrective measures.
· Make ongoing operational decisions that adhere to budget requirements and sales goals.
· Work closely with related departments to meet customer expectations for delivery and quality.
· Foster an environment of teamwork, learning and continuous improvement.
· Place a strong emphasis on safety, OSHA and environmental requirements.
· Play an active role in company wide Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
Qualifications:
· The ideal candidate will have leadership experience in a production/manufacturing environment.
· Experience in an aluminum extrusion environment with a focus on one or more fabrication areas (Anodizing, Paint, Waste Treatment, Fabrication) is considered an asset.
· Post secondary education in chemical engineering is considered an asset.
· Proven experience managing people and priorities in a unionized environment.
· Education and training in Safety, Quality and Lean Manufacturing concepts is considered an asset.
Compensation & Benefits: Excellent remuneration and benefits package commensurate with experience.
Working Environment: Exposed to a production environment which includes noise, moving machinery, forklifts and fluctuations in temperature.
Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, bending, twisting, repetitive motion and ability to lift, push, pull up to 22kg.
