Overview
Klassen Greenhouse Farms is looking for a reliable and motivated Maintenance Assistant to help support our 32-acre greenhouse operation. This role is important in keeping our equipment, buildings, and systems running safely and efficiently so daily production can continue without interruption.
Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, the Maintenance Assistant will help with routine maintenance, repairs, general facility upkeep, and ongoing improvement projects across the greenhouse.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of greenhouse equipment and systems.
- Assist with preventative maintenance and routine inspections.
- Support the maintenance of irrigation, fertigation, heating, ventilation, and environmental control systems.
- Complete general building maintenance including minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, and repairs.
- Maintain maintenance tools, equipment, parts inventory, and work areas.
- Follow all health and safety policies.
- Respond to maintenance issues and assist with emergency repairs as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance, mechanical, construction, agricultural, or industrial experience considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Greenhouse experience considered an asset.
- Forklift or equipment certifications considered an asset.
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying environmental conditions.
- Ability to perform physical labour throughout the workday.
Schedule
- Monday to Saturday.
- On-call as required.
- Additional hours may be required during peak production periods.
COMPENSATION
- Pay Based on experience and qualifications.
- Medical Benefit available after 90 days

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
