Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Location: Arthur, Ontario
Reports to: Plant Manager
Position Details: Full-time
Compensation Range: $25.00-$30.00/hr
Purpose of Role
This position is responsible for performing maintenance, repair and P.M. activities for building, manufacturing, packaging, and other equipment
Key responsibilities and accountabilities
- Perform maintenance, repair and preventative maintenance ( P.M.) activities and completes related documentation as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for building, manufacturing, packaging and other equipment (e.g. compressed air, HVAC, pumps etc.).
- Works in compliance with established GMP and safe work practices and procedures, using personal protection and safety equipment as required.
- Notifies manager of any hazards, unsafe acts or conditions in the workplace.
- Performs minor repairs including plumbing, painting, carpentry and other general repairs needed in the facility.
- Fabricates (cuts, welds, assembles) components as may be required for repair or modification of equipment, including fitting piping in threaded, welded and sanitary configurations.
- May be required to liaise with outsource machine shops, fabricators and others providing services to address facility needs.
- Maintains appropriate inventory of spare parts.
- Contributes to achieving continuous improvement.
- Demonstrates flexibility in: working overtime, weekends, holidays, covering vacations / absences to support maintenance activities.
- Assist in supervision of contractor services as required.
- Willingness and capability to work effectively with limited supervision.
- Set-up, operate and troubleshoot various process equipment as required.
- Operate other ancillary equipment as required such as pumps and weighing scales.
- Clean and maintain the equipment and immediate work area throughout the shift.
- Complete relevant documentation completely and accurately.
- Treat effluent with appropriate chemicals prior to discharge.
- Perform cleaning and sanitization of equipment and areas as required
- Support in performing IQ/OQ/PQ activities on equipment
- Interact with other departments in a professional manner.
- Grounds maintenance, snow removal, cleaning, landscaping
- Log and track maintenance activities, repairs, and preventive tasks in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Secondary School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to use computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and applicable maintenance software
- Work experience in food & beverage, consumer care or pharmaceutical preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple competing priorities
- Knowledge of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling procedures.
- Capable of lifting (50lb) and meeting the physical demands of this position, including extended periods of standing, reaching and lifting.
- Works cooperatively in teams, communicates clearly and has effective listening skills.
- Tow motor and scissor lift experience.
- Comfortable working at heights
- Must possess valid G Drivers License
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
