The Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified Research Associate who will provide research support to the Animal Health team. The Research Associate will participate in all aspects of the research process including project and protocol design, data collection and data management, and will work closely in a team-oriented culture with research personnel and senior management, reporting directly to the VP, Animal Health, and the Team Lead Senior Research Associate, Animal Health.
Responsibilities
  • Support activities related to the monitoring of preclinical and clinical research programs for the development of animal pharmaceuticals and veterinary health products, with an emphasis on cannabinoid related products.
  • Provide background and technical support to the VP, Animal Health and the Team Lead Research Associate to help manage and conduct the data analysis obtained from preclinical and clinical studies,
including the use of Excel/GraphPad for statistical analyses and creation of summary graphics.
  • Collect and review peer-reviewed articles and assist in the preparation, drafting and editing of both internal documents (data summaries, reports and patent filings) and external publications (peer-reviewed publications, conference abstracts and presentations).
  • Attend and participate in project-related meetings, including both in-person meetings and telephone/video conferences with relevant third parties (CROs, manufacturing, IP).
  • Other duties as assigned
Experience and Background
  • Graduate degree in life sciences, veterinary sciences, biology or similar.
  • Professional experience in a medical, pharmaceutical or veterinary science environment.
  • Understanding of preclinical/clinical research, the drug development process, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
  • Knowledge of veterinary research and/or cannabinoid research is an asset.
  • Hands on experience working with companion animals preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of clinical chemistry and/or analytical chemistry preferred.
  • Strong capability to learn and understand new technical and scientific concepts.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent professional English communication skills (spoken and written).
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and present information through the use of software packages, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, GraphPad and reference tracking software (EndNote, Zotero or similar).
  • Proficiency in using Google Drive, Google Calendar and Gmail. Working knowledge of project management software (Asana) would be an asset.
Other Details
This is a full-time position based out of Toronto. Occasional travel may be required.
