POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Crushing Foreman runs day-to-day operations of DJN's crushing crew and plant - our jaw crusher, cone crusher, and screener - keeping production on spec, on schedule, and safe. This role is based out of Winnipeg but travels to job sites and pits across the region as work requires, including plant setup, teardown, and relocation between locations.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
- Run daily crushing operations on the jaw crusher, cone crusher, and screening plant, keeping production on target and gradation on spec.
- Supervise and direct the crushing crew, including plant operators and labourers, and coordinate with loader/excavator operators feeding the plant.
- Set up, tear down, and relocate the crushing plant between pits and job sites, including track moves and equipment configuration.
- Perform and oversee daily inspections, greasing, and preventive maintenance on the jaw, cone, and screener; troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and coordinate repairs with mechanics as needed.
- Monitor and adjust the plant (crusher settings, screen decks, conveyors) to hit gradation and production targets, and manage stockpiling.
- Keep daily production, downtime, and maintenance records, and report progress and issues to the Operations Manager.
- Enforce site safety plans, run toolbox talks, and ensure the crew follows all safety and OHS requirements around rotating and moving equipment.
- Coordinate fuel, parts, and consumables (wear liners, screens) so the plant isn't down waiting on supply.
- Travel to and work from sites outside Winnipeg as projects require, including occasional multi-day stints away from home.
