Summary:
Reporting to the Shop Service Manager, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is responsible for servicing and repairing all makes and models of heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, skid steers, and more.
Job Duties Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative service checks, maintenance, and repairs on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and skid steers.
- Utilize hand and power tools safely to complete repairs and tasks efficiently.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate repairs.
- Facilitate safety inspections
- Assess equipment to see if it needs to be sent elsewhere for repair
- Coordinate with Shop Foreman to determine priorities for equipment repair
- Maintain a clean and safe environment while adhering to safety protocols during all repair activities.
- Assist in heavy lifting tasks and operations of heavy equipment as required during the repair process.
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experienced mechanic preferred, but willing to hire someone who doesn’t have all levels of certification, as we are accredited for training.
- Experience with heavy equipment is required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license; Class 1 or 3 is considered an asset but is not required.
- Willing and able to work out-of-town/province for service calls.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position; standing, sitting, lifting, etc., for long periods of time and working outside in the elements.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Adaptable to changing job requirements and timelines.
- Safety-first attitude.
- Provide: must have own tools, hard hat, high visibility vest, CSA approved steel-toed safety boots/shoes.
