Examines and verifies data, documentary evidence and photos, interviews applicants and makes entitlement décisions on passport applications based on the information received and through the use and interpretation of policy and procédures.
Intent of the process
The purpose of this process is to staff Passport Officer positions on a term basis in Quebec City.
A pool of qualified candidates will be established to fill Passport Officer positions at Employment and Social Development Canada in the Quebec Metropolitain area and in Chicoutimi for various durations: indeterminate, term, acting positions, deployment, or assignment/secondment opportunities.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternative (a satisfactory score on the PSC test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma).
Experience in providing services to the general public in a demanding* environment.
- Demanding environment means with no control on volume, high volume and without appointments.
Experience in delivering services or programs to the general public involving obtaining and providing information requiring explanation or clarification
Experience in using technology (e.g. e-mail, Internet and word processing)

Test of Reasoning Unsupervised Internet Test (UIT) as part of the screening for this selection process. This test assesses reasoning and problem solving ability. You will have 90 minutes to complete the test. You must complete the test before you submit your application for this position.

Information on employment equity
Selected candidates will be required to successfully complete a 3-week full-time (37.5 hours per week) training course (travel may be required) and a structured 10-week apprenticeship program in order to qualify for continued employment. Persons appointed from outside the public service will be on probation for the duration of the term (should the term be 12 months or less). Successful candidates who are already employed with the Federal Public Service will be on assignmentsecondment (approval from current manager is required) to the position while completing the Passport Officer Training Course and Qualifying Period. Candidates who do not successfully complete the training and Qualifying Period will return to their substantive position.
You must clearly demonstrate that you meet all the experiences required for this position by answering the questions indicated in your application. You must provide concrete and relevant examples, including the dates, duration and extent of your experience. If you fail to do so, your application may be rejected.
UNSUPERVISED INTERNET TEST:
The qualification Thinking Skills will be partially evaluated by the Public Service Entrance Exam - Test of Reasoning Unsupervised Internet Test 372. By clicking the “Apply Online” button below, you will have 90 minutes to complete the test. If you pass it, you will be able to complete your job application.
The evaluation will take place in Quebec and Chicoutimi. You will be expected to travel to these locations in order to be assessed. Please note you will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and that travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, you will be responsible for travel costs.
A written exam may be administered.
Interviews will be conducted.
Reference checks will be conducted. Contact information (email address and telephone number) for 2 references at supervisory level must be submitted when requested.
Proof of education must be submitted at the interview.
If you were educated outside of Canada, you must have your credentials and/or diploma assessed against Canadian education standards. The public service will accept any Foreign Educational Credentials as long as they are deemed comparable to Canadian standards, through a recognize credential assessment service.
