We are looking for a dedicated and adaptable QA Tech to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and is ready to contribute their skills and expertise to support our operations. The objective of the position of a quality control technician is to analyze finished products for conformance to specifications and to monitor aspects of the production process affecting food safety and finished product quality. This position is located in a manufacturing environment, which includes exposure to high temperatures, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration, and loud noise levels.
Job Duties: Essential-
- Responsible for monitoring product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process.
- Examine and evaluate ingredients, in-process material and finished products by several testing methods to ensure
conformance to company standards.
- Conduct routine tests for product specifications as per company standards and initiate re-checks on non-conforming
products. Take samples of products at various stages of processing.
- Package, label and Product integrity evaluations.
- Grade or sort raw materials or finished products.
- Ensure hygiene and sanitation practices conform to policies and regulations.
- Advise quality or production supervisors & managers of ingredients or product deficiencies.
- Responsible for the correct recording and filing of all relevant records logs and documentation.
- Prepare inspection reports as required.
- Assist in training of existing or new staff if required.
- Must follow required Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as instructed by Management.
- Duties may be added or altered to meet business requirements.
Qualification/Skills
- Post-Secondary education in Food Sciences, Microbiology, Chemistry or related scientific discipline or equivalent
industry experience as Quality Assurance/Control Inspector in the food and beverage industry
- Basic/advanced knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is preferred.
- General knowledge of HACCP programs including control points and corrective actions is preferred.
- Learning, memorizing, and executing a sequence of procedures and High School level math.
- Self-motivated and organized, willing and able to work as a team.
- Excellent judgment and reasoning abilities.
- Work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, and in a deadline-oriented environment.
- Good hand – eye coordination and strong attention to detail
- Ability to work with computers as a regular part of day-to-day duties.
PHYSICAL SPECIFICATIONS
- This role requires the ability to stand for extended periods during the shift, which is an essential part of the job.
- This role requires lifting of up to 30 pounds. This role requires frequent lifting above the shoulders.
- Occasional climbing of stairs and frequent bending, stooping, carrying, pushing and pulling, occasional squatting
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
