SUMMARY
Seton Villa is looking for a compassionate and dependable Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Care team on a casual basis.
This position provides coverage for statutory holidays, vacation relief and unexpected sick leave, with approximately five 11-hour shifts per month anticipated. As a casual coverage position, flexibility and availability to support the team when needed are important.
The LPN provides nursing care and treatment within the established LPN scope of practice while respecting the dignity, individuality, privacy and independence of our residents. You will work closely with residents, Community Health Workers, the Director of Care, Community Health Nurses, families and other health professionals to ensure established support plans are implemented and adjusted as required.

Please note: As the average weekly paid hours for this position are fewer than 20 hours, this position is not eligible for extended health and benefit coverage.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct nursing, health and personal care services within the LPN scope of practice and established resident Support Plans.
- Provide care in a manner that respects each resident's dignity, individuality, privacy, confidentiality and independence.
- Work collaboratively with residents and Community Health Workers to ensure established Support Plans are followed and changes in care needs are identified.
- Maintain accurate records related to resident care, medication management, changes in support needs, resident refusals and communication with families and health professionals.
- Direct and instruct Community Health Workers regarding delegated tasks within approved Support Plans.
- Participate in regular Support Plan reviews with residents, the Director of Care and Community Health Nurses.
- Help new residents transition to Seton Villa and become familiar with their new home, services and available resources.
- Assist with resident transfers to hospital when required.
- Identify and communicate changes in resident support requirements and recommend referrals to other health professionals when appropriate.
- Check, order and receive medications, dressings and other nursing supplies.
- Participate in staff education, in-service training and approved continuing education opportunities.
- Maintain current knowledge of and comply with Seton Villa policies, procedures and standards of care.
- Assist the Director of Care and perform other related duties as required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and eligible to practise as an LPN in British Columbia.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR/AED Level C certification.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification.
- Previous experience working with seniors, preferably within a home, community or assisted living environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a social model approach to resident services.
- Compassionate and respectful approach to supporting seniors while maintaining their dignity, independence and confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and patiently with residents, families, staff, visitors and volunteers.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and independently with minimal supervision when required.
- Strong judgment, reliability and ability to respond appropriately to changing resident needs.
- Fluent in English with the ability to understand and communicate written and verbal instructions.
- Physically able to perform the requirements of the position, including repetitive lifting, bending, stooping and stretching.
HOURS & AVAILABILITY
This is a casual relief position, primarily providing coverage for:
- Statutory holidays
- Vacation relief
- Unexpected sick leave
The successful candidate can expect approximately five 11-hour shifts per month, although actual hours will vary depending on operational and coverage needs.
Because the role is specifically intended to provide relief coverage, candidates who can offer flexibility and reliable availability will be particularly well suited to the position.
