Low Bed / Winch Truck Driver

Avid Energy Services is seeking an experienced and dependable Low Bed/Winch Truck Driver to join our team. This position involves transporting heavy equipment ranging from 20 to 50 tonnes using 7-axle to 10-axle configurationsthroughout Northern Alberta. We are looking for a safety-focused professional who is reliable, adaptable, and takes pride in their equipment and work.
This is a fast-paced position with changing priorities and schedules, so flexibility and the ability to work on short notice are essential.
Responsibilities
- Safely transport heavy construction and logging equipment using low bed and winch truck combinations.
- Load and unload equipment, requiring the ability to operate construction and logging equipment proficiently.
- Complete daily pre-trip inspections, DVIRs, logbooks, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues while working in remote locations.
- Maintain clean and well-organized equipment and work areas.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, supervisors, and customers.
- Navigate confidently using GPS and Google Maps pin locations.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s Licence with a clean driver’s abstract.
- Experience hauling heavy equipment with multi-axle low bed configurations is preferred.
- Ability to safely operate construction and logging equipment for loading and unloading.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to perform light repairs and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of transportation safety regulations and documentation requirements.
- Hours of Service certification is considered an asset.
Work Location & Schedule
- Based out of High Prairie or Slave Lake, Alberta.
- Primary work area includes Slave Lake, High Prairie, Edmonton, and surrounding regions.
- Shift schedules may vary depending on operational requirements, and candidates should be available for on-call work when required.
- On-site accommodations are available for employees who commute from other areas, and flexible shift arrangements may be considered.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
