We are expanding our service division and are seeking a highly experienced, dependable Red Seal Automotive Vehicle Mechanic to join our team. About the Role
As an Automotive Vehicle Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing trucks, vans, commercial trucks, and heavy-duty equipment. You will perform mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and preventative maintenance work to ensure vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance. This role also includes completing commercial vehicle certification inspections where applicable.
This position is ideal for a seasoned mechanic who takes pride in high-quality workmanship and thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspection, Diagnostics & Repair
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on passenger and commercial vehicles.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, suspension systems, steering components, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and electrical components.
- Utilize computerized diagnostic tools and manual testing equipment to identify and resolve faults.
- Perform final inspections to ensure repairs meet manufacturer, safety, and regulatory standards.
Preventative Maintenance
- Perform scheduled maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, brake servicing, and adjustments.
- Complete commercial vehicle inspections and certifications (if certified).
- Maintain accurate, detailed, and organized service and repair records.
Shop & Field Work
- Work primarily in the service shop, with occasional field service support as required.
- Safely operate hoists, jacks, welding equipment, and specialized shop tools.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with safety standards.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with service advisors, management, sales staff, and fellow technicians.
- Clearly communicate diagnostic findings, repair timelines, and recommendations.
- Provide professional advice on preventative maintenance and future repair needs.
Requirements
Education & Certification
- Red Seal Certification as an Automotive Vehicle Mechanic and Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (required).
- Commercial Vehicle Inspector Certification is considered an asset.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required; Class 1 or Class 3 with air brake endorsement is an asset.
Experience
- 2 years of hands-on experience servicing heavy-duty trucks, and automotive transport vehicles.
- Proven experience working with diesel engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostic software.
- Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
Skills & Attributes

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and repair documentation.
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and working in a demanding shop environment.
