Job Summary
We are seeking a self starting and motivated Construction Labourer to join our team. This role involves supporting various construction projects by assisting skilled tradespeople and performing general labor tasks. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry and develop valuable skills across multiple trades.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Site Preparation: Assist in preparing construction sites by clearing debris, digging trenches, and leveling ground, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Pre-Task Safety Checks: Conduct safety checks before starting any task, including checking tools and equipment for defects and ensuring the work area is free from hazards.
- Material Handling: Safely load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment to designated areas, following all lifting and carrying guidelines.
- Support for Skilled Workers: Assist skilled workers, such as carpenters, masons, and pipe layers, by holding materials, mixing concrete, and performing other tasks under their guidance.
- Site Clean-Up: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by regularly removing waste materials, sweeping, and disposing of debris in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Tool and Equipment Operation: Operate basic construction tools and equipment, such as jackhammers, drills, and compactors, following all operational and safety procedures.
- Environmental Compliance: Follow procedures for the proper disposal of waste and hazardous materials, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and participate in safety meetings and training sessions as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have own transportation.
- Previous experience in construction or manual labor is preferred.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks safely.
- Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of basic construction safety practices and regulations.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
