Position Summary:
The Fibre Service Technician (FST) Supervisor will have a primary focus of coordinating the in-field resolution of customer-down or core network incidents with a single-visit resolution. This includes providing incident updates both internally and externally throughout emergency incidents. The FST Supervisor will also manage the coordination and completion of targeted field work required to turn up new Beanfield services or infrastructure.
What you will be doing:
- Responsible for the day-to-day duties of the FST team including but not limited to:
- Prioritize and assign tasks accordingly.
- Prepare and organize daily/weekly work for crews with scheduling department.
- Ensure FST team perform tasks, as per company standards and provide excellent customer experience.
- Ensure the crews are working efficiently and safely.
- Execute procedures required to ensure network stability before, during and after maintenance and upgrade activities
- Coordinate with the scheduling department in properly dispatching the Fibre Service Technicians to complete cross connects, set up cabinets, racking equipment, and cabling devices and assisting with the above when necessary.
- Support Beanfield Fibre Service Technicians to minimize downtime and maximize the efficiency of emergency response.
- Work closely with various teams to ensure the swift resolution of any emergency incidents and assist with root cause analysis
- Identify patterns or events that may lead to the diagnosis of any issues or challenges that may be identified by any Beanfield teams
- Provide onsite support for device troubleshooting to include power cycles/reboots, cable testing/replacement, and device handling support.
- Track and monitor progress of daily tasks and communicate with other Beanfield teams.
- Receive and act upon escalations from other Beanfield teams.
- Assist with escalated issues regarding customer-facing diagnosis during circuit turn-up.
- Responsible for Employee Relations of the FST team, including but not limited to training, personal development, assigning duties & tasks, motivating, and coaching/mentoring team.
- Responsible for the Heath & Safety for the Installation team including but not limited to Ensuring all policies and procedures are followed, and responsible for ensuring all tools, PPE and safety equipment are in order worker.
- Administrative Duties:
- Providing accurate and updated reports as requested (daily, weekly, monthly etc.…)
- Monitor tickets and verify correct information is reported and updated on tickets.
- Accident & Incident Investigation Reports (Must be reviewed for approval)
- All other duties as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma and/or post secondary degree or diploma in Business, Technology or Communications.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant/industry related work experience, ideally in the telecommunications industry.
- 1-2 years experience in a supervisory or leadership role preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
- This position requires On-call availability.
- Valid BC Driver's License is required, as this role requires some travel to various job sites.
