We are seeking a highly organized and technically capable LMS Administrator & IT Support Specialist to manage and support the College's Learning Management System (LMS), assist with digital course development, and provide day-to-day technical support to students, faculty, and staff.
The Position
The LMS Administrator & IT Support Specialist will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and operation of the College's Learning Management System.
A key component of this position is ensuring that students are correctly enrolled in their programs and courses and that each LMS course is professionally structured, complete, easy to navigate, and ready for instructional delivery.
The successful candidate will work closely with academic administration, instructors, and student services to upload and organize curriculum materials, maintain course shells, manage user accounts and permissions, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide responsive IT support.
Key Responsibilities
LMS Administration
- Administer and maintain the College's Learning Management System.
- Create and manage student, instructor, and staff user accounts.
- Register and formally enroll students into their assigned programs and individual courses.
- Create course shells and configure courses according to approved academic structures.
- Assign appropriate LMS roles and permissions to students, instructors, and administrators.
- Manage course start dates, access periods, enrollment settings, groups, cohorts, and other course configurations.
- Maintain accurate LMS enrollment and user records.
- Archive, back up, restore, duplicate, and reset courses as required.
- Assist with LMS upgrades, integrations, system configurations, and routine maintenance, where applicable.
- Monitor system functionality and escalate significant technical issues when required.
Course Development & Curriculum Upload
- Build and configure complete courses within the LMS using approved course outlines and curriculum materials.
- Upload and professionally organize course content, including:
- course outlines and syllabi;
- lesson materials;
- presentations;
- readings and learning resources;
- videos and multimedia;
- assignments;
- quizzes and examinations;
- discussion activities;
- assessment instructions and rubrics; and
- supplementary learning resources.
- Develop consistent weekly, module-based, or topic-based course structures.
- Ensure LMS courses are intuitive, professional, and easy for students to navigate.
- Configure assignments, quizzes, gradebook categories, completion tracking, and other learning activities.
- Review courses prior to launch to ensure links, files, assessments, instructions, and navigation function correctly.
- Maintain consistent course design and formatting standards across College programs.
Student & Faculty Technical Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for LMS-related technical support.
- Assist students experiencing login, password, enrollment, course-access, assignment-submission, or navigation problems.
- Provide technical assistance to instructors using the LMS.
- Support instructors with uploading materials, managing assignments, quizzes, grades, and other LMS functions.
- Investigate and resolve LMS-related technical issues in a timely manner.
- Escalate complex technical or system issues when required.
- Prepare user guides, instructions, FAQs, and technical support resources for students and instructors.
General IT Support
- Provide first-level technical support to College staff, faculty, and students.
- Troubleshoot common computer, software, browser, internet, printer, projector, and classroom technology issues.
- Assist with the setup and configuration of computers, user accounts, email, Microsoft 365, classroom technology, and related systems.
- Support technology setup for classrooms and instructional activities.
- Maintain basic records of IT equipment, technical issues, and support requests.
- Coordinate with external IT service providers when issues require specialized technical assistance.
Quality Assurance & Data Management
- Conduct routine reviews of LMS courses to ensure course materials are complete, current, properly organized, and accessible.
- Verify that students are enrolled in the correct courses and programs.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of student, faculty, and institutional information.
- Follow College policies relating to privacy, cybersecurity, records management, and acceptable technology use.
- Assist with generating LMS reports relating to enrollment, participation, course completion, and other learning activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve the usability and effectiveness of the College's digital learning environment.
Qualifications
Education
A diploma, degree, certificate, or equivalent training in one or more of the following areas is required:
- Information Technology;
- Computer Systems;
- Computer Science;
- Web or Application Development;
- Educational Technology;
- Learning Management Systems; or
- a related discipline.
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant practical experience is a mandatory requirement.
Experience
- Previous experience administering, developing, or supporting a Learning Management System is strongly preferred.
- Experience with LMS platforms used in post-secondary or vocational education is considered an asset.
- Experience creating and organizing online or technology-supported courses is an asset.
- Previous experience providing technical support to end users is preferred.
- Experience within a college, university, school, training institution, or other educational environment is an asset.

Preferred Technical Knowledge
Knowledge or experience in any of the following is a mandatory requirement:
- LMS administration;
- LMS course development;
- LMS gradebook and assessment tools;
- online quizzes and assignments;
- reporting and completion tracking;
- HTML/CSS fundamentals;
- Microsoft 365;
- user account administration;
- cloud-based educational technologies;
- video-conferencing platforms;
- basic networking and Wi-Fi troubleshooting;
- Windows and macOS support;
- data backup and system maintenance; and
- cybersecurity and information privacy practices.

We are looking for someone who combines technical ability with strong organization and student service skills. The ideal candidate takes ownership of problems, pays close attention to detail, and understands that a well-designed and reliable Learning Management System is an important part of the student learning experience.
The successful candidate should be comfortable moving between technical responsibilities and hands-on support—for example, building an LMS course in the morning and helping a student or instructor resolve a technical issue later in the day.
