Cobra Heavy Iron Ltd. is seeking an experienced and dependable Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician to join our Kamloops-based team.
We are looking for a strong mechanic who is confident working on heavy equipment, tractors, trailers, and related fleet equipment, and who can properly diagnose, repair, service, and maintain equipment to keep it safe, reliable, and job-ready. This role is ideal for someone with solid hands-on experience in preventative maintenance, breakdown diagnostics, hydraulic systems, electrical troubleshooting, brake systems, suspension, steering, engines, running gear, and general repairs.
The successful candidate must be able to work independently, stay organized, and take pride in doing the job properly the first time. We are looking for someone who understands the importance of minimizing downtime, identifying issues early, and communicating clearly about repair needs, deficiencies, and overall equipment condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment, tractors, trailers, and support equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, brake, steering, suspension, and engine-related issues
- Complete routine servicing, repairs, and scheduled maintenance in a safe and efficient manner
- Identify worn or failing components before they lead to major breakdowns
- Respond to equipment issues and breakdowns with a practical troubleshooting approach
- Maintain clear repair records and communicate equipment needs with management
- Ensure equipment is maintained to a safe, reliable, and professional standard
- Follow company procedures, shop standards, and all applicable safety requirements
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of relevant mechanical experience
- Strong hands-on experience with heavy equipment, tractors, trailers, and fleet maintenance
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
- Experience with preventative maintenance, inspections, repairs, and breakdown response
- Must be mechanically strong, dependable, and capable of working independently
- Must be able to take direction well and follow instructions accurately
- Must be reliable, punctual, organized, and safety-conscious
- Must currently reside in Kamloops, BC
Assets (Not Required):
- Red Seal certification
- Experience with welding and fabrication
- Experience with CVIP inspections
- Experience with field service work

Pay: $40.00-$45.00 per hour
