Responsibilities:
- Assist attorney in all phases of litigation, including drafting legal documents, preparing correspondence, and conducting legal research
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, depositions, and court appearances
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and administrative agencies
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel in a professional manner
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate records of case-related information
- Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing calendars, and organizing office supplies
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a legal assistant or paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal department
- Proficient in project management software to track case deadlines and milestones
- Strong written communication skills to draft legal documents and correspondence
- Excellent phone etiquette when interacting with clients and other parties involved in the legal process
- Attention to detail for proofreading legal documents for errors or inconsistencies
- Familiarity with legal drafting techniques and formatting requirements
- Experience with data entry
- Ability to conduct interviews with clients and witnesses to gather relevant information for cases
- Knowledge of legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis or Westlaw
- Proficiency in using administrative software such as PCLAW, WordPerfect, Word, Outlook
