Community Living Parry Sound has worked with people with a developmental disability and their families for 60 years. Our purpose is to support people with disabilities to build better lives in community, and we envision a community where all people have the power and freedom to determine the life they want.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE:
· Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
· Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
· Candidate must be 18 years of age or older.
· Candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE OF INTERNSHIP:
The Individualized Funding Operations intern would indirectly support people with developmental disabilities in ways that will enhance the quality of their lives through person directed planning, researching supports and providing practical resources. This innovative position would provide training to the intern that is unique, person directed and in alignment with where the developmental services sector is moving to. Individualized funding service skills are not readily available in the developmental services labor market and will offer the candidate an opportunity to benefit from the specialized skill set of experienced staff members.
SPECIFIC KEY DUTIES:
· Meet with individuals to understand their goals, interests, and support needs
· Facilitate person-directed planning aligned with individual preferences and budgets
· Process purchases that enhance quality of life
· Coordinate flexible, individualized supports with people and staff
· Manage and apply funding in line with Passport One guidelines
· Support creative marketing and event planning initiatives
· Build partnerships with community organizations to promote inclusion and participation
· Strengthen capacity in person-directed approaches across the team and community
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education; post-secondary education in Human Services, Business Administration, or a related field will be considered an asset. Must possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Applicants must have the ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. Excellent computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Access to a reliable vehicle for business use and Valid G Driver’s license.
