Responsibilities
- Safely operate commercial trucks for local deliveries, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of cargo
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and perform basic automotive repairs to maintain optimal truck performance
- Verify shipment accuracy, complete delivery documentation, and maintain detailed logs of all trips and freight movements
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and warehouse staff to coordinate schedules and resolve any delivery issues promptly
- Assist with forklift operation for loading/unloading freight at warehouses or distribution centers
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to company policies
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Proven experience in commercial driving, preferably in local or regional routes
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as forklifts safely and efficiently
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and basic automotive repair skills
- Strong attention to detail for verifying shipments and maintaining accurate records
- Physical ability to lift heavy objects, stand, sit, and walk for extended periods during shifts
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and dispatchers effectively
