Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Position Title: Manager, Life Cycle Support

Department: Urban Rail Signaling (URS)

Location: Toronto (Don Mills / York Mills)

Job Purpose:
Management of life cycle support activities to support our customers’ in-service CBTC systems, including immediate and long term spare parts supply, 3rd level repairs, obsolescence mgmt. and the planning, estimating, and execution of in-service-support contracts.

Management of 8-person life cycle support team (Spares and Repairs Administration and Logistics and Services Engineer(s)) in dual role of a) managing stand-alone Operations/Projects of after-market support activities and b) acting as Work Package Manager (WPM) supporting projects with their Sparing, Warranty and/or in-service-support obligations.

Key Job Functions:
Life Cycle Support Bid Planning and Estimating

As a member of the project bid/proposal team, develop strategies, implementation plans, and estimates to provide compliant, cost-competitive warranty and support solutions.
Internal (within Thales) and external (partners and subcontractors) teaming development and make-team-buy assessments for delivery of both local (“on shore”) and factory (“off shore” in Toronto) support requirements
Life Cycle Support Work Package Manager

Manage the delivery of warranty and life-cycle support work scope within projects
Accountable for the scope, quality, schedule, and cost of this Work Package Scope
Risk and Opportunity mgmt. for through-life-support project work packages
Spare Parts Supply and Third Line Repair Management.

Manage and co-ordinate activities pertaining to the processing of spare parts and repairs orders to ensure turnaround time targets are achieved;
Prepare medium and long term material forecasts (based on customer history and RAMS predictive analysis);
Responsible for spare parts price catalogue and monitoring of actual costs to ensure suitable margins are maintained;
Ensure technical issues impacting spare parts supplies are resolved in a timely manner.
Obsolescence Management

As a key member of the “Through Life Support” committee, works closely with HW Eng, Procurement, and Project Line to manage end-of-life issues with customers to provide adequate notice and alternatives (preparation of Maintenance Bulletins, ‘last time buy’ notifications, upgrades, etc.)
Liase with Product Management to support development of long term Product Upgrade Plans for customers.

Key Skill Requirements:
University degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 15+ experience in a Services/through-life-support role within a complex HW/SW-intensive project-based company
10+ years supervisory and/or management experience
5+ years’ experience in supporting Project Bids and Project Management/Delivery within a product-centric technology company
Experience in Rail Signalling and/or high safety/process-maturity environment is highly desirable.
Must have the ability to lead a cross-functional team to meet life cycle sustainment goals and objectives
