As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families. You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community. You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of five years of post-degree demonstrated experience and excellence in assessment and treatment of mental and behavioural health disorders preferably in mental health settings. Minimum of one year of experience in providing assessment and therapy in a community-based primary care setting with family physicians. Training and experience in implementing evidence-based interventions, and basic health psychology and knowledge and ability to apply population based care principles. Strong practice management and organizational skills geared to primary care settings. Evidence of strong skills in creating and presenting to groups and individuals. Proven ability to work with a diverse population across the entire age span and interest in working within a primary care behavioural health model. Demonstrated sound clinical and professional judgement, superior interpersonal and social skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong ability to be self-directed, flexible, and displays initiative in work settings. Proven ability to effectively develop collaborative working relationships with health professionals and in providing effective and responsive consultation. Evidence of an ability to openly accept and integrate supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:
Superior knowledge of the mental health system, services and resources and ability to facilitate referrals of primary care provider’s patients is preferred. Knowledge of DSM-V and medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions is preferred. History of effectively working in a matrix organizational structure is preferred.
