Overview
CTRL HVAC Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivated 313A Refrigeration Mechanic to join our growing team in Hamilton, Ontario. As a UA Local 787 signatory contractor and primary HVAC service provider supporting ArcelorMittal Dofasco, this position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of commercial and industrial HVAC, refrigeration, combustion, and mechanical systems throughout Hamilton and Southern Ontario.
This role is ideal for a technician looking to expand beyond traditional commercial service work and gain exposure to complex industrial HVAC systems operating within one of Canada's largest manufacturing environments.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic Certificate
- ODP Certification
- G1 Gas Technician License preferred (G2 minimum)
- Experience servicing commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills
- Valid Ontario Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to obtain and maintain site security clearance
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to complete detailed service reports and documentation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain commercial and industrial HVAC and refrigeration systems
- Service chillers, rooftop units (RTUs), air handling units (AHUs), make-up air units (MAUs), boilers, and refrigeration equipment
- Inspect, test, and maintain gas-fired and combustion equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service work on critical HVAC infrastructure
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications, manuals, and control schematics
- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and control system issues
- Complete accurate service reports, work orders, and documentation
- Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and project teams regarding system performance and repair recommendations
- Maintain company safety standards and comply with all client site requirements and procedures
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service requests as required
- Support commissioning, start-up, and optimization of HVAC and refrigeration systems when required
Required Training
- Working at Heights Certification
- Elevated Work Platform Certification
- Industrial HVAC experience
- Combustion, burner, or controls experience
- Experience working within manufacturing or heavy industrial environments
- Experience with building automation and control systems

Pay: $45.00-$60.00 per hour
