Position Summary
The Solutions Specialist is responsible for the planning, development, installation, configuration and maintenance of corporate software, applications, and databases. This includes the creation of all plans to ensure functionality, data consistency, security and usability of systems aligned with the organization’s priorities and enable employees to do their work effectively. The Solutions Specialist is responsible for diagnosing and resolving performance issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability. He or she will also be accountable for planning updates and maintenance of software, applications, and database resources to mitigate limitations and combat obsolescence. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle - develop, install, configure, test and maintain software, applications, and databases.
- Troubleshoot, test and maintain the core product software, applications, and databases to ensure strong optimization and functionality. Proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
- Assist internal departments with their technical needs by making recommendations to increase efficiencies and lower the human intervention time on tasks.
- Research and make recommendations on new software, applications, and databases that improve the operations of the Calgary Stampede, and work with other technology teams to implement.
- Produce detailed requirements, specifications, technical documentation for implementation and support of software, applications, and databases.
- Provide end-user training and documentation for the deployed software, applications, and databases in order for end-users to be highly efficient and productive.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications:
- University degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related subject.
- Certification in software development, Microsoft, project management considered assets
- 2+ years of experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting software, applications, and database server environments
- Strong experience with software development and support, APIs, and SQL database.
- Working knowledge of web technologies including XML, HTML5, CSS, Javascript, AJAX, relational databases, version control tools and web services development.
- Working knowledge of SDLC, design, coding practices, scripting, VB, and ASP.
- Strong planning, organizational, customer service, communication, interpersonal, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
