Position: Project Analyst, Social Medicine and Population Health
Site: Toronto General Hospital
Program: The Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine, University Health Network
Reports to: Manager, Social Medicine and Population Health
Salary: $62,166 to $77,688 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hour per week
Status: Permanent Full Time

The Gattuso Centre for Social Medicine at University Health Network (UHN) seeks to address health inequities, working alongside community organizations, clinicians, marginalized populations and persons with lived experience, patients, and all levels of policymaking to co-design, evaluate, and scale innovative programs that lead to better health. Applying a social determinants of health approach, the Social Medicine and Population Health Program aims to bridge health services and the broader social environment of Toronto’s most vulnerable populations through the design, implementation and evaluation of new care models and initiatives to address the health implications of inequity.

The Social Medicine Program is seeking a Project Analyst who will be responsible for leading all aspects of the project life cycle, from planning to implementation and evaluation, working with the program manager to set project timelines, coordinate activities, and ensure the project remains on budget. The Project Analyst supports and monitors project progress against metrics, timelines, and plans; actively identifies and resolves issues affecting timely and successful completion of projects, and as needed, escalates issues to the Manager of the Social Medicine and Population Health Program. The Project Analyst will be responsible for executing the implementation of key project and program initiatives in social medicine, working in collaboration with UHN clinical leaders, community organizations and city program teams as needed.

Key Responsibilities of the Position

Manages multiple competing priorities, and able to rapidly shift focus in response to changing priorities
Lead discussion on project progress and present to senior management on key milestones
Implement best practices and obtain local client/patient, clinical, community, organizational and system perspectives
In collaboration with the evaluation specialist(s), works to ensure projects meet targeted and measurable outcomes
Lead all aspects of the project life cycle, working closely with the Manager and key stakeholders to:
Advance health equity in project delivery
Identify key stakeholders
Develop project metrics, surveys and data solutions
Ensure projects are completed within budget and specified timeline, and refine approaches as needed
Prepare reports and obtain stakeholder and project team feedback
Identify key issues and potential risks to project and stakeholder relationships. Provide recommendations to the Manager and Executive Director related to issue resolution options
Review data from various sources, analyze and interpret the information to inform project progress
Strong knowledge and understanding of population health, health equity, and the social determinants; as well as health system design and implementation to address inequities

Qualifications:
Masters degree or equivalent experience in public health, epidemiology, health administration, social services, policy or recognized equivalent field
Project planning, management and implementation experience required, particularly as it relates to the social determinants of health; certification in Project Management preferred
Minimum three years' experience in health care sector; change management experience preferred
Experience with workflow, process analysis and measurement of project performance preferred
Strong team leadership skills, including ability to inspire and build confidence in others, support negotiations, resolve conflict and creatively solve problems
Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of equity, anti-racism, and anti-oppression principles and practices
Effective communicator with strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to foster relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Knowledge of the Ontario and Toronto health care and social services systems and public health an asset
