Role Description:
We are looking for a dedicated senior electrical engineer to assist with technical design across a range of energy-based projects.
The ideal candidate will lead the electrical engineering aspects of projects, from initial planning through to post-construction. You’ll leverage your expertise to plan, size, evaluate, and specify electrical and controls systems in alignment with industry standards, codes, and best practices.

Main Responsibilities:
- Act as the electrical discipline lead on multidisciplinary projects, managing scope, budget, schedule, and staffing.
- Serve as the electrical engineer-of-record (EOR) for complex projects, ensuring technical accuracy and compliance with design standards.
- Develop and coordinate comprehensive electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams, power and lighting plans, grounding and lightning protection layouts, motor control schematics, riser diagrams, and panel schedules.
- Conduct field investigations to assess as-built conditions and provide input for design and construction phases.
- Perform and oversee electrical system studies and analysis, including load flow, short circuit, protective device coordination, arc flash, and motor acceleration studies.
- Specify and evaluate electrical products and systems, preparing detailed technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and commissioning plans.
- Lead the preparation of electrical assessments, feasibility studies, and technical reports.
- Ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with control systems such as PLCs, DCS, and variable speed drives.
- Provide construction phase support by responding to RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and conducting field reviews to confirm compliance with design.
- Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, fostering skill development and technical excellence within the team.
- Perform shop inspections, Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), and provide technical guidance to resolve field or shop issues.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta or eligibility within 12 months.
- At least 6 years of experience in electrical design within a multidisciplinary environment, with a focus on power distribution and control systems.
- Expertise in electrical systems, including power distribution, motor control, PLC/DCS integration, and variable speed drives.
- Proficiency in performing power system studies using software such as ETAP (preferred software)
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code, and IEEE standards.
- Proven experience in tender document preparation, including single-line diagrams, cable schedules, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Experience working within EPC or EPCM environments.
- Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving skills
