About this opportunity
Under the direction of the First Pressman, the Helper is required to ensure efficient operation of the stacker and the accurate piling/boxing, destination of the product, maintain stacking equipment, and to accurately monitor bundle counts. The shift for this position will be a 12 Hour Rotating Continental Shift (Days and Nights - 7 to 7), 36 hours per week, plus overtime as required.

What you will do

Assist crew in the daily operation of their press that includes checking quality of job coming off press, notifying appropriate person(s) of actual or potential problems, installation of plates/blankets/rollers and taking control of piling or packing of press maintaining a clean work area;

Efficiently utilize all make-ready, production and maintenance times to support production requirements, and to minimize unnecessary downtime;

Assist in webbing up the press and wash up while ensuring that it is done quickly and properly;

To understand the need and process for correct web leads and maintain productivity levels of product coming from the stacker maintaining press supplies, blankets, chemicals, glue, etc;

To accurately set up the stacker (during M.R) to ensure minimal waste and efficient start ups;

Prepare cartons, bins and labels for all inline products, monitor quantity and destination as per shipping list and monitor cut off controls on sheeter, folder, and inline products;

Train to become a Roll Tender during vacation/absences;

Understand the M.R. process/requirements and running standards;

Support and contribute to a healthy and safe work environment by following all workplace regulations, policies, and initiatives, including reporting all first aid injuries, accidents, and workplace hazards.

What you have to offer

Grade 12 or equivalent and experience in the printing industry would be an asset;

Must be able to work rotating shifts, continentals, weekends and overtime as required;

Basic knowledge of computers and PC based software;

Good organizational, communication skills, both written and interpersonal;

Able to work well in a team environment.
