We are seeking a Production/Site Supervisor with extensive experience in a unionized environment to join our team at our partner hospital in Toronto. The Production Supervisor will oversee the daily manufacturing operations, ensuring the effective management of safety, quality, customer service, and efficient resource utilization.
MAIN DUTIES
Supervisor is responsible for:
- Guide, supervise, and help train all Technician staff in the reprocessing of reusable medical device
- Supervise staff working in all areas of reprocessing
- Manage daily staffing assignments (i.e. replacement of staff, sick days etc.), staff/lunch breaks;
- Maintain working knowledge of all equipment and its functions as well as reporting on equipment status
- Maintain working knowledge of the instrument tracking system and its functions
- Maintain the schedule of training and ongoing competencies for production staff
- Ensure all reusable medical devices are reprocessed correctly according to standards and manufacturer’s recommendations
- Understanding and following appropriate Collective Agreements
- Ensure that priority items are managed appropriately
- Performs quality inspection audits daily
- Monitor the repair and maintenance programs for instruments on a daily basis
- Maintain an ongoing list of instrument inventory requirements
- Report on attendance management issues including employee mentoring, and discipline
- Maintain workplace safety standards and practices
- Ensure that staff are properly trained in the safety and health procedures appropriate for their assigned duties
- Ensure personal protective equipment policies are adhered to
- Participate in special projects and committees as assigned
HEALTH & SAFETY COMPLIANCE
- Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Regulations.
- Conduct Health and Safety walk throughs and inspections.
- Participates in Evacuation Drills—staff education on nearest exits.
- Training required: WHMIS
- Enforce employee adherence to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) polices
- Promote safe workplace practices and prevent workplace accidents.
- Follows SteriPro Safety Rules.
Educational / Professional Development / Work Experience Requirements
- 2 – 5 years as a Production supervisors required and preferably in Medical Device Reprocessing or healthcare field.
- Medical Device Reprocessing Certification required or willing to obtain
- The Certified Medical Device Reprocessing Supervisor (CMDRS) would be an asset
- General knowledge of industry practices, techniques and standards
- General knowledge of surgical instruments reprocessing including all decontamination, clean assembly, and sterilization
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills (written and verbal)
- Knowledge of instrument processing and infection control required;
- Experience directing work flow is essential
- Must demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changes in workflow and have the ability to make quick assessments to establish priorities
- Basic troubleshooting skills of Medical Device reprocessing equipment
- Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email and Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint), scheduling app etc.
- Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards, safety precautions, and regulations applicable to the area of supervision
