Position – Food Service Worker
Department: Nutrition
Type: 1 casual position
Applications are now being accepted for a casual food service worker position.
Job summary: Reports to the Director of Nutrition or designate. The food service worker prepares and serves food for residents, staff and visitors under the direction of the head cook or designate, and all other duties and responsibilities as outlined in the food service worker job description.
Qualifications:
- Experience in the food service industry of long-term care considered an asset.
- Must be current with the certified food handler’s course or willing to obtain.
- Ability to interact professionally with residents, staff, families and other health care providers with a pleasant and cooperative attitude, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and kindness.
- Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
- Must be able to conform to the hours as outlined on the work schedule, as well as be available for shifts as needed 7 days a week.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet the daily job requirements.
- Must be a team player who is organized and energetic and must be physically and mentally capable of performing all duties of the job for which they were hired.
- Demonstrated good attendance in current or previous employment.
Job Expectations:
- Must be dependable.
- Work in partnership with the Director of Nutrition and head cook daily.
- Proven ability to regularly and consistently attend work.
- Must be flexible to do job tasks as required and hours of work as scheduled.
- Hours of work consist of weekdays, weekends and holidays.
Physical Demands:
Standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing / pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity and bending.

Non-physical Demands:
Our employees must incorporate resident needs and demonstrate the ability to work independently and as a team player.
Position to Commence:
As soon as a suitable candidate is found.
Wages as per Unifor Collective Agreement.
