Bella Bella School Board is seeking a High School School Principal preferably with a Master's
degree, current BC College of Teachers' certification and administrative experience to begin
Aug 17, 2026.Our School is located in Bella Bella situated in the Great Bear Rainforest on the
central coast of British Columbia. Surrounded by ocean and forest, there is an abundance of
opportunities for residents to engage in such as hiking, boating, kayaking or fishing. The
Heiltsuk carry out their rich cultural traditions in their community Big House. Bella Bella is a
progressive Indigenous community accessible by daily flights from Vancouver South Terminal
and regular ferry service from Port Hardy and Prince Rupert. Although small, many amenities
are available: coffee shop, hospital, pharmacy, grocery store, post office, fitness center, church
and other smaller shops. Bella Bella Community School has approximately 80 students in the
High school division. The position requires a dynamic and compassionate leader who is dedicated to student success and community engagement.
Together with the elementary Principal they will continue to maintain the school culture where
students, families, and staff feel valued and supported.
SUMMARY
Responsible for managing Bella Bella Community School operations and ensuring that the best interests
of students are served. The High School Principal supervises teachers, specialists, teaching assistants
and support staff in the delivery of the high school courses. They collaborate and work alongside the elementary Principal. Also, the position performs other related duties and participates in work related training as required.
SCOPE
Works closely with, and under the direction of the Superintendent and in accordance with BC
curriculum and Bella Bella Community School Society policy/procedures in managing the high school
school operations. The scope of work includes scheduling courses, overseeing and evaluating BBCS educational programming as well as managing supporting functions such as transportation, library,
breakfast/lunch program, computer services, finance and human resources. The position leads the
High School BBCS team in promoting a learning environment where students feel proud of their cultural
heritage and staff work together to foster respect, communication, and school spirit.

success rate of BBCS students
- Willing to be involved in extracurricular activities
Specific Requirements:
Master’s degree in administration or related area (ie curriculum, technology).- May be presently enrolled in a recognized program.
- Strong technology background (training and/or experience) with scheduling, MyEd
- Committed to a consultative, collaborative style of leadership
- Evidence of exemplary teaching experience
- Demonstrated knowledge and sensitivity of BC First Nations people
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, staff, parents and
community members
- Knowledgeable about the role of technology in supporting learning
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
